Back to School – Better by Bus

Xplore Dundee is offering to take care of the school run with new products and discounted tickets for young people.

The school holidays are over and the city’s main bus operator is reminding parents and pupils about its range of services, as well as new additions the Ten Journey ticket and the Class Pass.

Managing Director Elsie Turbyne said:

“School services are vitally important to our network and we run buses across the city, connecting neighbourhoods and schools with fast, frequent services.  Every school in Dundee is on or within walking distance of at least one bus route which runs every 10 minutes or less.  We also operate seven dedicated services on behalf of Dundee City Council for the schools with the largest catchment areas.

“Not only that but we are the only city operator in Scotland to offer child and young person fares all the way up to and including the age of 18*.  So whether your child needs to use the bus every single day, or just needs to know we’re there as a backup when the taxi of mum and dad is needed elsewhere – we’ve got services and tickets to suit everyone.”

The Ten Journey is a new, flexible ticket ideal for those who travel occasionally but not frequently, allowing customers to purchase multiple journeys in advance.  It’s a cost-effective way to pay for travel, as each trip works out at £1.30 and there is no time-sensitive expiration for the ticket – simply buy now, travel later.

The Class Pass is another recently-introduced ticket which enables large groups to travel on regular services for a discounted price.  Up to 30 pupils and 6 adults can travel for £50 and the ticket can be divided into three for smaller groups to travel a number of times (10 children/2 adults per ticket).  This is an ideal ticket for class outings, school excursions or for parents transporting kids for days out or parties.

More information on all tickets, timetables and services can be found on the Xplore Dundee website or at the Travel Centre in Commercial Street.
