National Express Dundee is welcoming a brand new community support initiative in Dundee. Lifegate Community Café was officially opened today, Friday 23rd January, at Haddington Crescent, Whitfield by the Deputy Lord Provost Christina Roberts.
The facility is there to offer food and support for local people every Friday between 11:00 and 14:00. Free soup and toasties are available and there is practical help on hand from agencies and volunteers who can assist people struggling with fuel poverty, benefit sanctions and addiction.
National Express Dundee is one of the donors providing groceries for the café, which is also a distribution point for Dundee Foodbank in Whitfield.
Elsie Turbyne, National Express Dundee’s Interim Managing Director said:
“We believe facilities like Lifegate Community Café and the associated foodbank are absolutely crucial to people living in disadvantaged circumstances in Dundee and we are proud to support their work.
“Our best wishes go to everyone involved in running the café, including Lifegate’s pastor Geoff Findlay, who is also our Workplace Chaplain; we hope to continue to work alongside Geoff and his team to help make it a successful and useful project for people in Whitfield and the surrounding area.”
