National Express Dundee is supporting a new community café and food bank which has been launched in the city.
Lifegate Community Café and its associated food bank was officially opened on Friday (5 December), aimed at helping people with financial difficulties, sanctions or low wages. The project is run by Lifegate Church and supported by Whitfield Parish Church and Faith in Communities.
Pastor of Lifegate Church, Geoff Findlay, is also the Workplace Chaplain for National Express Dundee, which has donated a large amount of food given by staff and customers to support the new venture.
Managing Director of National Express Dundee Phil Smith said:
“This project was brought to our attention by our Workplace Chaplain Geoff Findlay, who regularly visits the Company, and we are delighted to support such a good cause. I am sure the work Lifegate is doing in the local community will prove invaluable to many people in Dundee, both in the run up to Christmas and beyond.”
The Lifegate Community Café is open on Fridays from 11am to 1pm for free soup and toasties, along with support and advice about work and benefits.
