Ho-ho-how will you get to Santa’s grotto?

Xplore Dundee is urging local people to catch the bus to Santa’s grotto at Wellgate Shopping Centre this Christmas, as there’s £1 off a grotto visit if you present a valid Xplore Dundee bus ticket.  Santa’s Grotto opens at Wellgate on Friday 20th November on level 2 of the centre and launches the same night as Xplore Dundee’s specially-decorated festive services.

This year, the bus operator’s ‘Santa Bus’ will be joined by an ‘Elf Bus’, and these services will be in operation during Dundee’s Christmas Street Festival.  The Santa Bus will be parked at Albert Square, outside the High School of Dundee, and kids of all ages are invited to come on board to say hello to Santa , while the Elf Bus will be operating a hop-on/hop-off service around the city centre, to enable local people to enjoy the full range of entertainment on offer during the city’s annual lights switch-on festival.

Boarding the Santa Bus and travelling on the Elf Bus will be free, although any donations to Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas campaign will be gratefully received.

Xplore Dundee Managing Director Elsie Turbyne said:

“I hope families across the city will enjoy taking our services on a visit to Santa’s Grotto.  We’ve partnered with the Wellgate to offer a great value trip to the shopping centre for all the family, and we’re planning more offers and promotions throughout December, to make it easier and better value for everyone travelling throughout Dundee for Christmas shopping, parties and days out.

“I’m also glad to welcome back our festive buses and I hope our passengers will enjoy a bit of Christmas cheer as they travel on these services this Friday and throughout the season!”

Wellgate Centre Manager Peter Aitken said:

"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Xplore Dundee for this special festive family deal.  As well as opening Santa’s grotto on Friday we will also be switching on our Christmas lights and launching Mission Christmas with Cash for Kids’ Courage the Cat.  There’s no better way to join in the fun than by catching the bus to Wellgate this weekend!”
