Local cricket team ‘nets’ generous donation from bus company

‘Owzat!’ Arbroath United Cricket Club has received a funding boost of £250 from the National Express Employee Charity Panel.

Club Chairman Neil Burnett is also a driver with the group’s local bus operator Xplore Dundee, and applied for the money to help with upgrading their facilities.

Neil said, “I want to thank the Charity Panel and in particular Xplore Dundee for their generous award.

“The money will go directly towards the refurbishment of our artificial practice cricket nets and will help to maintain our reputation in Scottish cricket as one of the leading clubs in youth development.”

The National Express Employee Charity Panel was established to support charities, clubs or fundraising efforts which staff are directly involved with and meets quarterly to discuss applications from across the group’s three UK divisions – bus, coach and rail. A total of £1,700 was handed out at the panel’s first meeting of 2016.
