School’s out so don’t stay in!

Dundee’s schoolchildren are celebrating the start of the summer holidays and the city’s main bus operator is giving parents something to be happy about too.  Xplore Dundee’s re-introducing the Holiday Hop promotion, alongside two new discounted tickets for evening and weekend travel.

From Thursday 29th June, and throughout the summer break, kids can ‘Holiday Hop’ onto the bus for just 20p when they’re accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket or concession pass.  The special fare is valid for up to three children aged 5-15 and is perfect for families heading out to see Little Mix this Thursday evening.

Managing Director Elsie Turbyne said:

“We’re urging people to take the bus into town to the Little Mix concert on Thursday night.  There will be a number of road closures in place so the more people who travel by bus, the less traffic congestion there will be in the city centre – and you won’t have to worry about parking either.

“Not only that but our new discounted tickets and Holiday Hop offer will make it even better value to catch the bus into town on Thursday night and throughout the summer holidays.  With fares to suit all kinds of travellers and a holiday heatwave forecast, there’s never been a better time to get out and about by bus in Dundee.”

Xplore Dundee is also offering two new tickets for those going out to meet friends, have a drink or enjoy a show – the new £3 Evening Saver is available from 6pm until the last bus on any night of the week, saving customers 20% on the price of a full Daysaver ticket.   And the operator’s new £7 Weekend Saver will be available on-bus from 6pm on Friday and valid until last bus on Sunday.

There are full details of the new tickets, concert diversions and suggestions for summer travel on the Xplore Dundee website, or in its latest ‘Discover Dundee’ booklet, which is also available online or from the Travel Centre in Commercial Street.
