Time is running out for the round pound

Xplore Dundee is reminding customers that from Monday 16th October they will no longer be able to pay for tickets using the old round pounds.

With the introduction of the new 12-sided pound coin in March this year, the old round pounds will soon cease to be legal tender.

Once they are removed from circulation, drivers will be on the look out for passengers attempting to pay with the old pounds and request that only valid coins are placed in the hopper to pay for a bus ticket.

Banks will continue to exchange old coins for new after the October deadline, so passengers are advised to bank, spend or donate the old round pounds to avoid confusion when boarding the bus.
