FAQs - Payzone

We have recently changed how you buy bus travel from your local ticket agent. Travelcards can now be bought from a Payzone agent. 

The travelcard you buy will be loaded onto our mTicket app or a Swift card- you will not be given a paper pass. 

Please note: You will need mobile data to purchase your ticket via mTicket.

Why is this changing?

We’re sorry things have to change. But the old ticket machines in our agents and travelshops can’t be repaired any more.

My local agent has stopped selling bus passes - what do I do?

You can find your nearest available shop here.

Can I still pay with cash?

Yes, via a Payzone Agent or in one of our travelshops.

What's the difference between a Swift card and an mTicket?

Swift is an electronic bus pass (like oyster), mTicket is an app on your smartphone. 

Can I still buy child tickets in a Payzone agent?

Yes, child tickets will now be available on a Swift card or as an mTicket.

What if I don't have a smartphone?

Purchase travel on a Swift card, either online or at one of our travelshops, or pay on bus either with cash or contactless. 

What can I do if I don't want to use my phone?

Purchase travel on a Swift card, or pay contactless on the bus.

Do I need phone data to purchase a ticket?

Yes, you will need data on your phone to download and purchase a ticket.

Where is the barcode?

Click on the 'burger menu' in the top right hand corner of the app and select 'Payzone Barcode'. See the above step by step guide for further help.

Once I have the barcode what do I do then?

It will be scanned by the Payzone agent or travelshop using the Payzone terminal.

Does the agent/shop need to have my phone?

No, the agent has a scanner.

Do I need to show the barcode everytime?

Yes, every time you renew your product.

How do I use my ticket on the bus?

How far in advance can I start my ticket?

You can start you ticket up to 7 days in advance.

Can I buy my nBus ticket on the app?

nBus tickets are not currently available on the app.

Can I buy a bus and train ticket on the app?

Network tickets are not currently available on the app.

Can I purchase a term pass on the app?

Term passes are not currently available on the app.
