With the countdown to Christmas well and truly underway, it’s time to start planning your festive days out! Let’s start in Birmingham’s vibrant city centre as we explore some of the top picks to do over the festive season. 

German Markets 

The Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market is the largest authentic German market outside Germany, so it’s a can’t-miss for your festive celebrations. Open every day between 10am - 9pm, enjoy a German Bratwurst, have a hot Gluhwein and indulge in chocolatey crepes, all while taking care of the Christmas shopping.

Birmingham Markets 

Speaking of shopping, there’s so much to do in Birmingham that you’ll easily tick all the presents off your list! From the Bullring & Grand Central, to the world’s biggest Primark or a trip to Great Western Arcade for your favourite independent shops.

Coffee & cake
Overrun with festive spirit? Take a break from all the Christmas shopping and indulge in coffee and cake at one of Birmingham's cosy independent coffee shops. Our favourites include Faculty in Piccadilly Arcade and 200 degrees on Colmore Row. Mince pie anyone?

Enjoy the sights of the entire city from above as you take to the skies in the big wheel. Or if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, why not try your hand at skating round the outdoor rink? Complete with an amazing ice lounge for all your festive food and drinks, there’s something for everyone in Centenary Square this Christmas.

Solihull Festive Feast - 

Take a break from Christmas shopping and indulge in the Festive Fest in Mell Square, Solihull. Organised by Solihull BID, enjoy mulled wine, mince pies and flavours from around the world.

Visit Santa's Grotto at Dudley Zoo 

He’s making a list, he’s checking it twice, yes, Santa is ready and waiting in his Winter Wonderland at Dudley Zoo! After a visit to Santa and a present in tow, make sure you say hello to all the amazing animals, including the reindeer before their big Christmas adventure!

Christmas Extravaganza in West Bromwich 

Ready for a Christmas Extravaganza in West Bromwich Town? Get into the festive spirit with Santa’s Brass Band singing your favourite Christmas songs, see the Snow Lion and even a life-size snow globe! It’s free and perfect for a festive day out with the family.

Christmas pantomimes 

Nothing says Christmas quite like a trip to the theatre for a pantomime. This year there’s so much choice in the West Midlands. Enjoy the classic tale of The Snow Queen at The Old REP in Birmingham, see Dick Whittington at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre or board the magic carpet with Aladdin at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall.

Christmas at Wolverhampton Art Gallery

Wolverhampton Art Gallery has your festive day out all wrapped up this Christmas. Complete with meeting Santa Claus himself, plus plenty of Christmas gifts, crafts and a festive trail around the gallery, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the holiday season and let out the little ones creative side too.
