Changes to Fare Stages on Dundee Buses
National Express Dundee is making changes to its fare stages this weekend in line with new concessionary rules introduced by the Scottish government.
From Sunday, 9 May National Express is required to record where all concessionary passengers get off the bus. This means all concessionary passengers must tell the driver where they are travelling to when they get on board.
There are currently a large number of fare stages on each bus route. Therefore, to make the changes easier for customers and quicker for drivers, National Express is reducing the amount of fare stages. This change will take effect from Sunday (9 May) and will ensure Transport Scotland receives an accurate record of all concessionary journeys.
From Sunday 2 May the following single adult fares will apply: - Travel up to one stage: ᆪ1.20 - Travel over one stage: ᆪ1.45
Lawrence Davie, Director National Express Dundee, said: "From Sunday we are adjusting our fare stages to make it simpler to comply with the new requirements from Transport Scotland.
Most customers will not notice a difference in price, but a minority will have a slightly higher or lower fare. We appreciate this will be confusing at first but have made these changes to ensure buses aren't delayed excessively while the driver selects from numerous fare stages.
A list of the journeys which can be made within each fare stage is available below and at our Travel Shop on Commercial Street. Our staff are happy to answer queries and will be handing out information posters throughout next week."
