Several bus routes set for change on 7 November 2010 following passenger feedback
Several bus routes in Dundee are set to change from 7 November following feedback from passengers.
National Express Dundee has applied to register changes to several services in the city to address concerns from customers and help improve reliability. The changes will affect bus routes 5a, 5b, 25/26 and 22.
The company reviewed its bus network back in June and has closely monitored feedback ever since. The new alterations are based on public consultation and are currently pending approval from the Traffic Commissioner.
Lawrence Davie said: "Following comments from customers we have submitted some route alterations to the Traffic Commissioner to address passenger concerns and improve reliability. We know some of the initial route changes had teething problems and we hope these further amendments will solve these issues.
"Changing bus routes is a detailed process and it takes 70 days to register any alteration, however, the new services will start from Sunday 7 November and timetables will be available from mid October."
From mid October timetables will be available via the Travelshop in Commercial Street and on the website.
Service changes from Sunday 7 November:
Services 5a / 5b: Broughty Ferry to Ninewells Hospital
- Significant changes have been made to the timetable to build a more reliable and punctual service. It will also be renumbered as 5 to create a simpler network
- It will operate in both directions through Gowriehill (Mallaig Avenue/Spey Drive)
- It will provide an improved frequency along Perth Road, with a bus every 15 minutes.
Services 25 / 26: Broughty Ferry to Ninewells Hospital (Northern Circular)
- Will operate in an anti-clockwise direction around Barnhill and it has also been simplified to become the 26.
- The terminus point at the Occidental in Broughty Ferry will be removed, allowing passengers to remain on the vehicle throughout their journey.
- Will provide a service to the residents in the Alpin Road/Glenesk area of the city
- An all day Monday to Saturday service operating to/from City Centre and Ninewells Hospital for the residents in the Pentland area of the city.
Service 22: Downfield to City Centre to Ninewells Hospital
- Has been withdrawn from the Craigowl loop and all services will terminate at the Craigowl terminus
- The majority of services will now operate the full length of the route from Craigowl to Ninewells Hospital.
