Travel Safe - Travel Dundee
Travel Dundee, Tayside's largest bus operator, are pleased today to reveal the new 'Travel Safe - Travel Dundee' information campaign which has been introduced as part of the award winning 'Operation Safer Travel' partnership with Tayside Police.
Under the new 'Travel Safe - Travel Dundee' campaign, the Company have released a new information leaflet twinned with on-bus posters and adverts. Passengers will also see new anti-crime messages appearing on the rear of bus tickets in the coming months across Travel Dundee's bus services.
Stuart Henry, Corporate Affairs Manager for Travel Dundee said, "As many Dundee bus users will know, Travel Dundee have taken huge steps forward over the past 12 months in increasing passenger safety and working to reduce the fear of crime amongst our customers. The new 'Travel Safe - Travel Dundee' campaign is there to market and promote the initiatives that Travel Dundee are constantly undertaking to improve passenger and staff on-board safety. Many will recognise that Travel Dundee recently became the first major bus operator in the UK to operate with a bus fleet 100% covered by on-board CCTV cameras but we also want local bus users to be aware of the other initiatives that we have in place through Operation Safer Travel with our partners Tayside Police."
Mr Henry added, "We are pleased to boast a low crime bus operation but we won't get complacent, and therefore it is important not only to introduce anti-crime measures, but also to push and promote these to our existing and potential customers. The fear of crime is often greater that crime itself."
As part of Operation Safer Travel, Travel Dundee are also one of only a handful of bus operators in Scotland to introduce DNA 'spit' kits to their staff. The Company also recently announced that they intend to crackdown on passengers who continue to smoke on their local bus services.
