Sarah East appointed Managing Director of National Express UK Bus

National Express UK Bus today announces the appointment of Sarah East as Managing Director, effective from 1 July. Since joining National Express in 2019, Sarah has held a number of senior management and leadership roles across both the business’s bus and coach operations.

In 2023, Sarah moved fully over to the bus business to focus on operational leadership and has since played a key role in driving performance and delivering strategic priorities. Sarah joined National Express from FirstGroup where she spent over 10 years in operational roles.

The appointment follows Antony Goozee’s decision to leave the business at the end of June after eight years.

Commenting on her appointment, Sarah said: "We have a well-established bus strategy for 2026 which is already delivering positive results and remains the right approach for our business.

"Our focus will continue to be on providing safe, reliable, sustainable and easy-to-use public transport services for the communities we serve across the West Midlands. I’m excited to continue working with colleagues across UK Bus in my new role and to build on the strong progress we have already made together.
