As Diwali soon approaches on Monday 24th October 2022, let us all come together and celebrate the festival of light! Want to join in the celebrations? We’ve put together a few events where you can explore and visit by bus!
But first, let's learn some interesting facts about Diwali!
Diwali celebrations have officially kicked off in Birmingham as Victoria Square was luminated with lights and festive Indian food! Missed the event? Not to worry as you can join in with the festivities by visiting any of these events!
First up, we have the Sharing the Light event, which will be taking place from 6:30pm on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd October 2022 at Bullring and Grand Central. What can you expect? There will be a massive outdoor event organised by Sonia Sabri Company and German Puppeteers Dundu which will feature hundreds of handmade colourful lanterns by local schools which will be lit up in the heart of Birmingham City Centre.
You can expect plenty of live dance performances, music, Rangoli and henna workshops and, ending the event with their spectacular firework display. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Next up, we have the Diwali Festival in Coventry, on Tuesday 25th October 2022. Make it an evening to remember where you can learn the history behind Diwali, as well as joining in with all the festivities!
Get involved with mantra music, or create your own Rangoli pattern. There will be plenty of food to indulge in, including their irresistible samosas and spring rolls served with chutney. Yum!

Ever wanted to make your own Diwali candle? Well pop down to The Core Theatre in Solihull on Saturday 29th October 2022 where you can learn to make your own candle, known as the ‘Diva’. Learn how to create beautiful and bespoke candles for Diwali!

Have a fun filled evening and celebrate Diwali in style at the Diwali Festival in Willenhall, on Saturday 29th October 2022. At the festival you can expect traditional Punjabi folk dancing, with plenty of lively bhangra music from H Jandu. Get your moves ready as you’ll be dancing through the night! Plus for the ladies, you can get involved with fashion stalls and get your henna on too!
