Six fun things to do over the six week holidays!

With another summer holiday upon us yet again, we’ve put together a list of six exciting things you can do and places you can visit across the six week break with your family and friends, without you having to spend an absolute fortune.

Coventry Cathedral

A historic landmark available to visit all year round, Coventry Cathedral is a must-see for all families.

You can explore the beautiful architecture of the cathedral ruins, climb the famous tower or visit for one of their many activities they are planning over the Summer holidays!

So, whether you’re an avid explorer or would prefer to stay indoors with a hot drink and biscuit, Coventry has something for everyone this holiday!

You can use routes 7, 7A, 7B, 8, 8B, 9, 9B, 11, 12X, 13 and 13A for a 5 minute walk to the Cathedral.

Coventry Charterhouse

A charming hidden gem of Coventry, the Charterhouse is a great day out for any families who enjoy calming walks through nature and a slice of local history!

The home to a silent order of monks all the way back in the 14th century, this 1.7 acres of land is bound to bring summery fun to your holidays. With a mole-themed trail for younger children, and with heaps of other special events all throughout the holidays, this magical home will spark imaginations and bring joy to whoever visits.

The house is just a 5 minute walk from our 3 and 3S routes.

West Orchard shopping centre

Since 1991, West Orchards shopping centre has been a must for everyone to visit in Coventry, and this year is no different.

With over 40 retail outlets, this is an amazing place to take the family over the Summer, and with a fun (and free) dino trail for the younger years, you will have a great time whilst visiting.

It's just a short walk from routes 6, 6A, 7, 7A, 7B, 8, 8B, 9B, 14, 14A, 15, 17, 17A, 18 and 18A.

Planet Ice

What's the best way to stay cool during the hottest time of the year? By going ice skating!

Planet Ice is well known for its incredible ice rinks and the activities they have to offer. Whether you want to watch a real life game of hockey, a show-on-ice, or get onto the ice yourself and even take some skating lessons, there's no better way to stay cool and exercise at the same time this summer.

With special offers over the holidays, Planet Ice is bound to be a great day out with whoever you choose to go with!

You can use routes 6, 6A, 14, 14A, 18, or 18A to get there!

Coventry Transport Museum

A classic place to visit for the whole family, Coventry Transport Museum is a great option for any days out this holiday!

After opening in 1980, the Transport Museum has become a staple of Coventry history that is known wherever you go. With numerous events happening over the course of the Summer for families, the Transport Museum is a timeless experience for everyone, and is bound to spark creativity for the whole holiday.

Catch the routes 13 and 15 to get there!

St Marys Guildhall

Perhaps a hidden gem of Coventry, St Marys Guildhall is a fascinating experience for any little historians over the holidays.

This amazing medieval building promises surprises to all, having miraculously survived bombings during WW2, it serves as a historical reminder of the destruction caused and the distinction of Coventry during the war.

Explore the beautiful interior of the Guildhall, take in the marvellous Coventry Tapestry, and learn all about the history of Coventry.

It’s just a 2 minute walk from the 11 and 12X route.
