Tis the season to be jolly, and what better way to spread the festive cheer than by embarking on budget-friendly Christmas escapades around Coventry and the West Midlands. From twinkling light displays to charming markets and cosy winter wonderlands with Father Christmas. 

Coventry Christmas Market and Big Wheel

From mulled wine, a BBQ, a German swing grill, toasted marshmallows, Yorkshire pudding wraps, candied nuts, crepes, chocolate kisses and more, Coventry Christmas market has everything you need to get into the Christmas spirit. 

Take in the sights of the city with the Christmas lights sparkling in the dark, maybe even take it all in from the big wheel. The market is open until 5th January.

German Christmas Market

A firm fixture in Birmingham's calendar, the Frankfurt Christmas Market is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria. 

Wander for hours through the stalls full of traditional wooden gifts and handcrafted keepsakes. Take in the scents of some of the tastiest food, from pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, chocolate covered strawberries and freshly made pancakes. The most traditional German drinks are on offer from hot chocolate to gluhwein, or a glass of weissbier. Or simply dance in the twinkling lights of the market as the live singers and DJs play the best Christmas songs.

Christmas Reindeer trail in Birmingham City Centre

Visit Birmingham City Centres Reindeer Trail between the 6th November and 6th January 2025. Take a wintry walk tracking down Santa's nine reindeers Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and, of course, Rudolph, for selfies and to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity at the same time.

Christmas at St Mary's Guildhall

Get in the festive spirit at St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry with a variety of Christmas events. Enjoy storytelling with Father Christmas on select dates, sip mulled wine during Christmas tours, or explore Tudor history with a special tour. For a twist, experience Scrooge’s Spirit, a Christmas murder mystery, or join the Great Hall Christmas Party Night.

Carols by Candlelight

Celebrate Christmas at Coventry Cathedral on Sunday, 22nd December at 5pm with Carols by Candlelight. Enjoy a heartwarming service lit by candles, featuring the Cathedral Choirs and a selection of Christmas readings. This free event requires no booking—just head on over tot he Cathedral. Donations are encouraged to support the Cathedral's free community events.
