Enjoy October half term around Coventry and the West Midlands without spending a fortune. We have pulled together a list of all the autumn fun happening around the area that are free or budget friendly.
Families can join the Freaky Family Fun Day at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum on Saturday, 26th October 2024, from 11am to 3pm! This FREE event allows visitors to explore the new Microworld exhibition and enjoy activities such as spooky skeleton crafting, mask making, face painting, and chilling stories in the Undercroft.
You can also catch a Halloween performance by Rebel Manifesto Aerial Studio and take part in spooky tours around the galleries. Plus, the alien family from The Roswells will be there for a fun sci-fi experience! It’s a day filled with creativity and excitement for all ages—no booking required, just drop in!

Let's Play & Picnic
Enjoy a Let's Play & Picnic at Coventry Cathedral on Tuesday, 29th October from 10:30am to 12:00pm. With indoor games and crafts for families, it's a free event. Feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy it in the warmth of the New Cathedral. No booking required!

This October half-term, Coventry Transport Museum invites families to explore the science of splats at the Tinker | Make | Play: Splats workshops on 26th, 31st October, and 2nd November 2024, from 10am to 3pm. This FREE event (with admission) is suitable for all ages and includes activities like creating splatter paintings, dismantling everyday objects, and building splat machines. A dedicated play area is available for younger participants. Designed to spark curiosity and creativity, these workshops offer a fun introduction to engineering for everyone!

Skulls, Spooky Skeletons & Animals
The Skulls, Spooky Skeletons & Animals event at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum runs from 26th October to 2nd November (excluding Monday and Sunday) from 10:30am to 3:30pm. For £2.50 per child (free for under 3s), visitors can drop in and explore their creativity inspired by the Human Remains and Animal Taxidermy collections.
Families can create chalk drawings, collaborative art pieces, and cotton skeletons while sharing thoughts on the exhibits. This is a fun opportunity to contribute to a visual display and enjoy different activities throughout the week as they celebrate the spooky season!

Dear Zoo
Dear Zoo is coming to The Albany Theatre on Saturday, 2nd November at 1 PM. Join Ben and Sally as they search for the perfect pet in this fun show with puppets and songs. The Bear Who Went to War
The Bear Who Went to War is a heart-warming adaptation based on the true story of Wojtek, a bear who served in the Polish army during World War II. Running at The Albany Theatre from 30th October to 2nd November 2024 at 1:30 PM and 6:30 PM, this show is suitable for ages 7 and up. Tickets are £9 for children and concessions and £11 for adults, with family discounts available. Audiences will enjoy a touching tale of bravery and friendship, featuring life-size puppets and a cast of six actor-musicians.
