We are marking International Men’s Day on Saturday 19th November by inviting local people to name buses after notable men of the city.
For the past 10 years we have been allowing employees to name buses but now the transport provider wants to open up the opportunity to suggestions from the people of Coventry.
We are looking for local people to nominate men and boys who deserve the honour of being on one of the 176 electric buses, that we are delivering as part of the city’s mission to be the first all-electric bus city in the UK by 2025.
David Bradford, Managing Director, said: “We want to celebrate men and boys who’ve made a difference to Coventry. They may be living or a historical figure, famous or uncelebrated, young or old.
“We are looking for men who have been role models to their community and deserve to be honoured - and it will be fantastic to see their names on the brand new electric buses of Coventry.”
International Men’s Day is an opportunity for businesses, charities and individuals to explore issues such as men’s mental and physical health, the high male suicide rate, male victims of violence and the challenges faced by marginalised men in society such as homeless men.
It is also an opportunity to celebrate strong male role models and their role in creating a society that is inclusive for all.
We are committed to being an inclusive and supportive employer. We have just launched our new pay rates in Coventry with bus drivers earning up to £29,500 or more with overtime. Visit https://careers.nationalexpress.com/
Please email suggestions for men and boy names, along with as much information about them as possible, to busnames@nationalexpress.com
