Bus users in Coventry can continue to enjoy low fares thanks to National Express Coventry’s participation in the Government’s £2 single fare cap which is now extended until 30 June 2023. In addition, the company is extending the offer to include £1 single tickets for children and young people aged 18 and under.
National Express Coventry, which operates services across Coventry, hopes the cheaper fare will give commuters a helping hand in a tough financial climate and encourage more people to travel on its network.
Committed to making bus travel affordable and accessible to all, National Express Coventry contactless capping means that customers can be assured they will never pay more than £4 a day, regardless of how many buses they catch.
The initiative, which launched in January as part of the Government’s Help for Households scheme, has been warmly received by customers across the region with over three million National Express Coventry's passengers taking advantage of the £2 single fare offer.
Managing Director of National Express Coventry, David Bradford, said: "Now that our services are back to normal we’re pleased to be extending the £2 single ticket for another three months.
“We know that 78% of local people use our services to get around, so by offering a flat, affordable fare we're helping to make it even easier for people to ditch their cars and choose to travel by bus, which in turn contributes to reduced congestion and emissions on our roads.”
The £2 adult and £1 child fare cap will be available to all customers purchasing single tickets via the National Express Coventry's mTicket app or on-board using cash or contactless until 30 June 2023.
