We’re offering free, on the day travel across our bus services in the West Midlands and Coventry for poppy collectors and uniformed personnel to attend remembrance services on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.
Alex Jensen, CEO UK, Ireland & Germany, said: “We’re proud to support the Armed Forces and want to recognise the significant contribution they make to our country. Offering free bus travel on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday for those who are either poppy collecting or wearing their uniform is our small way of saying thank you to those who have provided and continue to provide an invaluable service to our country.”
2023 marks 10 years of National Express supporting the Royal British Legion, in which our big-hearted customers and colleagues have raised an impressive £73,000 for the charity over the past decade.
It’s also 11 years since we became the first company in the UK to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant. It’s a commitment which sees us support the Armed Forces community with career opportunities and training for PCV driving licence, as well as offer discounts for currently serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their family members when travelling on our coach services.
Alex added: “Our Armed Forces and their families have given everything to our country, so it’s with great pride that we’ve signed the covenant to give back to them. We employ many ex-service members, current reservists and their spouses and will continue to provide sustainable job opportunities to this community.”
To further support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, we’ll be selling poppies across our network and encouraging colleagues and customers to get involved in fundraising opportunities. There is still time to show your support by donating to this year’s #Poppy Appeal here
