Birmingham's Most Recognisable Resident Turns 100

There will be no telegram from the Queen but next week is one of Birmingham’s most recognisable resident’s 100th birthday. The Birmingham bus is 100 years old and to celebrate the region’s biggest bus company National Express West Midlands are holding a party.

The celebration, which is open to all, will be outside the new Library in Centenary Square 10am – 4pm Friday 15th August.  At the event will be buses from across the decades including two buses from the 1950’s and a modern day hybrid.

There will also be the first sign of a prototype next generation Birmingham bus which will be arriving in the city next year. The new vehicles will provide a step change in local transport and be used on key commuter routes.

Centro’s customer information team will also be at the event as will the award winning Safer Travel Police Team.

Like all birthday parties there will also be cake and goodie bags.
