Bus loads of food donated to local foodbank

National Express staff, based at their head office in Birmingham, have collected hundreds of pounds worth of food items, toiletries and other groceries for a local foodbank.

National Express staff, who collected over a thousand toys last Christmas for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, have donated the food to Aston Foodbank.

The collection was organised by Deputy Payroll Manager Debbie Linnecor across the bus and coach operators Bordesley Green and Digbeth head offices.

Debbie’s idea quickly gained support with many colleagues bringing in carrier bags full of donations resulting in an ever growing pile of goodies, some of which has already been handed out to local families in need.

Debbie Linnecor, Deputy Payroll Manager at National Express said: "We all enjoyed collecting for the hospital toy appeal last year and I thought this year we should collect for Aston foodbank."

"In reality it seemed such a little thing to do but it will have such a big impact for the Aston Foodbank team. They were clearly delighted when we handed over the huge amount of goodies we had collected."
