Walsall Phoenix U7’s kitted out by National Express

Successful under seven's football teams Walsall Phoenix Harriers and Walsall Phoenix Ospreys have been kitted out in new rain jackets, thanks to a donation from the National Express Employee Charity Panel.

Craig Haines, an engineer for National Express West Midlands, applied for a donation towards Walsall Phoenix Football Club to help pay for kit for the under seven's teams.

Over the last three years Craig has volunteered his own spare time to assist the club with transporting players to and from matches and also helps set up training drills and match days.

Craig, whose son also plays in the under seven's Osprey team, said: "The under seven's teams are widely regarded as the best in the West Midlands.  They benefit from quality coaching whilst learning important life, social and team qualities which can only aid them in their development through life.

"Thanks to the National Express Employee Charity Panel they really do look the part now too. The new rain jackets have been used weekly due to our great British weather!"

The National Express Employee Charity Panel helps to support employees who are actively involved in charitable or volunteer work.  The Panel is made up of UK employees from around the National Express Group business who meet quarterly to decide which good causes they will support.  The Panel awarded almost £17,000 to over 45 charities and organisations nominated by employees throughout 2013.
