Services 4 / 4A

Service 4 is the new number for the 37. The 4A is a new direct service to Gospel Oak, replacing part of the 31:

Solihull | Olton | Acocks Green | Tyesley | Birmingham

Buses will run up to every 10 minutes

Gospel Oak | Acocks Green | Birmingham

Buses will run up to every 10 minutes

The good bits:

+ Buses will run up to every 5 minutes between Acocks Green and the city centre along Warwick Road

+ Buses up to every 10 minutes to and from Gospel Oak

The 37 will become the 4 and will run up to every 10 minutes between Solihull and Birmingham. There are no route changes on this service, it will continue to run as it currently does.

The new 4A service will replace the route no longer served by the 31, between Gospel Oak and Birmingham city centre. It will run up to every 10 minutes from Gospel Oak along Severne Road and Gospel Lane to Warwick Road, then through Acocks Green and direct along Warwick Road to Birmingham city centre. This will mean journey times will be quicker to and from Birmingham city centre.

Both the 4 / 4A will run up to every 10 minutes, with buses between Acocks Green and Birmingham city centre running together up to every 5 minutes, along Warwick Road.

Even though the 31 will no longer travel into Birmingham city centre, it will cater for the link between Solihull, Shirley, Gospel Oak and Acocks Green. The 31 will continue to serve its usual route from Solihull Station via Shirley to Streetsbrook Road, but it will then run along Redstone Farm Road due to ongoing issues with parking and resulting traffic on Pitmaston Road to Gospel Oak. Between Gospel Oak and Acocks Green buses will run along the current route including Severne Road and Olton Boulevard East to Acocks Green.

Pitmaston road will be served by the 99, provided by igo. Full details of this service will be available from networkwm.com shortly.
