Top questions our customers are asking us

Are adult single ticket prices changing?
No. Single adult tickets will continue to be £2 until the end of this year.

How do Tap & Cap contactless tickets work/Why can’t I use Tap & Cap on other operators' buses?
The technology for Tap & Cap fares is only currently available on National Express buses, so customers can’t tap and have the fare capped on other operators’ buses.

Remember, the same card or device must be tapped every time for Tap & Cap to work. If you tap on a National Express bus, your fare will automatically be capped at the best price.

Customers who wish to receive the ‘Tap & Cap’ experience across all bus operators should use Swift Go. This automatically caps at the best price too and can also be used on the tram.

Why have the days that the capping starts and finishes changed?
We have changed this from Monday to Sunday, to Sunday to Saturday, to simplify our system processes.

Why have you removed the 3 day Tap and Cap?
We are simplifying the Tap and Cap process. 1 and 7 day are still available on the bus. 3 day capping will be available via Swift Go.

I pay by Direct Debit, when will my price change?
If you pay by Direct Debit you will see the increase in your first payment after 30th June depending on when your normal pay date is. You will receive an email from us confirming the changes.

When will the term, student and child Direct Debit prices be changing?
Term prices will be increasing from August and Direct Debit prices will be increasing from September - in time for the new academic year.

Can I still pay £1.50 before 9.30am with my free concessionary pass?
Yes, the pre-9.30am ticket will still be available for free concessionary pass holders at £1.50.
We also have 4 week tickets and monthly subscriptions available if you travel frequently before 9:30am.

What is an NX Outer Zone ticket?
Tickets for any National Express bus service that travels to, from or between locations outside the nBus zone.

Tickets in this area were previously referred to as NX Extra.

Why is an NX Outer Zone ticket a different price?
An outer zone ticket allows customers to travel over a larger area.
