See where Star Wars fans should go this May 4th

A long time ago (45 years!) in a galaxy far, far away (America), one of the most successful film franchises of all time came into being. 1977 saw the release of Star Wars in cinemas, changing the way we looked at films forever.

Now, after 9 movies, multiple TV shows and more merch than an army of Jawas could flog, we celebrate this pop-culture phenomenon on May 4th every year.

So if you’re ready for a jump to hyperspace on board our buses, let’s see how you can celebrate Star Wars Day in the West Mids and beyond.

1. Star Wars Quiz - The Old Crown

If there’s one thing Star Wars fans love, it’s being right about Star Wars. So put your knowledge to the test on May 4th with quiz night at The Old Crown.

Not only will you be tested on all 9 films, but you’ll also be able to try plenty of ales and lagers on tap, as well as a fantastic food menu. Plus, with it also being Birmingham’s oldest secular building, The Old Crown is one of our must-visit places in the city.

You can reach the Old Crown on our 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 17 and 60 services, and pick up tickets to the event at DesignMyNight.com.

2. Outdoor screening of The Rise of Skywalker - Luna Springs

See the latest Star Wars film on May 4th with a fun twist.

At Luna Springs’ Moonlight Cinema nights you can enjoy your favourite movie as the sun goes down. With a huge HD screen, cozy seating, popcorn, drinks and more, it’s the ultimate outdoor cinema experience.

Head to Luna Springs on our 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 17 and 60 services and buy your tickets for the showing at LunaSprings.co.uk.

3. Star Wars pinball - Tilt

Tilt is one of the city’s true hidden gems. Nestled within City Arcade, this pinball bar is a great spot for a coffee, craft beer and a relaxing break from the everyday.

Play pinball on 19 themed tables, including a classic Star Wars table and, added in 2021, a brand new Mandolorian table. Do you have what it takes to get a high score? (No using the force though, that’s cheating).

You can find Tilt a short walk away from our Colmore Row stops and find out more about Tilt on their website.

4. Star Wars arcade - NQ64

While Tilt is your place for a quiet vibe, NQ64 steps in as its boisterous cousin. This Custard Factory-based bar is home to old-school arcade machines, classic consoles and more. With a great range of beers and cocktails, you can see why many hours can be lost here.

For Star Wars fans there is also a pinball table here, plus the classic Star Wars Trilogy arcade shooter. Take on the Death Star, take part in battles on Hoth and Endor and much more.

You can get to NQ64 on our 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 17 and 60 services and explore more of what’s on offer at NQ64.co.uk.

5. CovCon - Sports Connexion, Coventry

Just a few days after Star Wars Day on May 7th, Coventry’s premier convention lands at Sports Connexion. See celebrity guests (including some Star Wars alumni), cosplay stars, traders and much more. Covcon aims to be the UK’s most inclusive and friendly convention, so all are welcome.

You can get to Sports Connexion for Covcon on our 25 and 25A services. For more information on the event, please visit covcon.uk.
