Enjoy the Easter holidays around the West Midlands without spending a fortune. We’ve put together some egg-cellent ideas for Easter fun going on around the West Midlands, taking the stress out of the holidays with free and budget friendly activities.

Easter egg hunts

Botanical Easter Egg Trail

A fun and egg-citing challenge for the whole family to enjoy, an adventure to hunt the eight specially created botanical eggs while discovering the incredible spring flora around the Gardens.

Normal entry fees apply, plus £1.25 per trail sheet which can be booked online, or purchased on arrival at the Welcome Desk. The trail is recommended for children aged 6 and above.

Easter Egg Hunt at RSPB Sandwell Valley

Sandwell Valley is inviting all young nature detectives to join the Easter Egg Hunt and track down the lost Easter eggs. You will be hunting for clues across the nature reserve and get to have a go at wildlife activities all to complete the challenge.

Easter Egg hunts and trails at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens

Hop, skip and jump into this family Easter egg hunt in the blossoming gardens of Castle Bromwich Hall, explore the beautiful gardens as you solve and search the trail.

No need to book in advance, open every day during the Easter holidays from Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 7th April. Normal entry fees apply, plus £1 for trail and egg reward for each child. For more information visit the Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens website.

Swan Shopping Centre, Yardley

For some free Easter extra fun, the Swan Shopping Centre is hosting an cracking Easter egg trail around the centre, you will be tasked in spotting the missing eggs hidden by the Easter bunny. Find them all and receive a chocolatey reward.

Easter egg hunt at Wightwick Manor and Gardens

Treat the whole family to a world of adventure at Wightwick Manor and Gardens on an Easter trail and also enjoy traditional games and activities around the gardens. There's plenty for all the family to enjoy.

No need to book in advance, the trail takes place between Saturday 23 March - Tuesday 2 April 2024, from 10am to 4pm, with last entry at 3pm. Normal entry fees apply, plus £3 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan chocolate egg.

Pirate Treasure Hunt at Sea Life Centre Birmingham

Go on a swashbuckling adventure this Easter. Dive into a treasure hunt through the aquarium, you may even get some treasure at the end! Meet a real pirate, see sharks, green sea turtles, sea otters, penguins, clownfish and plenty more.

Activities 

Free Easter holiday fun at Resorts World 

If you’re looking for some free fun all in one place, Resorts World Birmingham has you covered, with plenty of Easter activities to delve into. From Easter basket decorating workshops, a mini mad hatters tea party, to a golden egg hunt plus some very special Easter themed guests. There is plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Alice in Easter Wonderland at Dudley Canal & Caverns

Climb on board a boat trip that will take you on a fantastical journey down the rabbit hole travelling underground through the magical Easter wonderland. A mad day out for the whole family!

Booking is essential. Boats run every 30 minutes from 10.30am to 4 pm from 29th March to 2nd April.

Touchdown at Touchwood

The Easter holiday fun launches into action when their very own spacecraft lands, visitors can enjoy a free immersive Easter space experience. As you step inside the spacecraft to assist with its take off to the moon you will have to compete in a series of tasks to pass to the next level, with games to play and astronauts on hand to guide you through.

From 11am - 3pm each day on Jubilee Walk.

Easter Cookie Craft, Swan Shopping Centre, Yardley

The Swan shopping centre free kids club is hosting an Easter themed German style event with some traditional Easter cookie craft. Decorate your own Bavarian Amerikane biscuit before taking it home to enjoy. For extra fun, take part in their egg-citing trail around the centre, spotting the missing eggs hidden by the Easter bunny.

Play Unstoppable Festival at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham

Do you fancy a day of Unstoppable LEGO Play? Then you need to head to LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre when it gets taken over by the Play Unstoppable Festival. A LEGO celebration to take your imagination on an adventure of limitless discovery.

Egg-cellent Experiments at Coventry Transport Museum

Tinker, make and play at Coventry Transport Museum this Easter, face ‘egg-streme’ challenges with curiosity, exploration and playful solutions. Will you be able to transport a variety of fake eggs safely up and down, forwards and backwards? Will they survive a drop? Make egg-cellent transport and see how far it can go.

Rag Rug Flowers family workshop at Black Country Living Museum

Step into Spring with a family workshop, getting hands-on with the traditional art of rag-rugging but with a floral twist!

Booking in advance is essential. The advisory age for this session is 8 and above and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Our World from Space at the Thinktank 

Head to the Thinktank theatre to be immersed into the world of space, build the Sun, Moon, and Earth out of people to see how they move in space, discover how rockets take off, recreate the orbits of satellites, and learn how they play a big role in wildlife conservation.

Sessions run at 11.30am and 1pm from Monday 25th March to Friday 5th April, the event is included in the price of admission. No booking is required for this event. For information visit the Thinktank website.

Dippy the Dinosaur at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

Head to see the nation's favourite dinosaur, a life-size replica of a Diplodocus carnegii skeleton – a 26 metre-long dinosaur that lived 155-145 million years ago.

Dippy is free to visit but if you fancy taking your experience up a notch you can try Dipp-E VR + Dippy for £3. Immerse yourself in the 175 million year journey of the Herbert’s ichthyosaur skull and experience the power of interactive storytelling.

Funder City, Digbeth Fun Fair

Funder City is Birmingham's new theme park for the Easter holidays with over 30 Rides & Attractions for adults and the kids. A Spring edition of Birmingham's Summer staple, Birmingham Beach. From the classic big wheel offering views over Digbeth to roller coasters, as well as interactive shows and immersive experiences, this theme park has it all. Plenty of fairground fun for all the family.
