Ride the iconic 50 route, one of the busiest bus routes in Europe

We've put together a list of 50 great things to do in celebration of one of our most popular services, the 50! Check out all the things you can do on just one bus route...

 

1 - Ride the 50! - The 50 is one of the most iconic routes of the Midlands, and the busiest routes in Europe. Connecting Birmingham, Moseley, Kings Heath, Maypole and Druids Heath together, on an ultra-modern Platinum bus.

 

Birmingham City Centre

Are you from Birmingham or have you ever visited Birmingham without taking a picture with (or of) the famous bull? Or even the raging bull from the 2022 commonwealth games, which now resides at New Street Station - new home in the Spring.

4 - Birmingham Library
Head to the library in Centenary Square and explore the many floors of internationally important collections, archives and more. Make sure to check out the Shakespeare Room, it houses Britain’s most important Shakespeare collection. There are also some amazing views of the city from the rooftop garden.

Full of local traders selling everything and anything from shoe polish to fresh fruit and veg.

6 - Take a stroll down Birmingham’s famous canals

Did you know that Birmingham has more length of canals than Venice? Take a stroll down one of its many canals to take in a different side of the city with beautiful sights and more.

7 - The Rep Theatre

A producing theatre based on centenary square, catch a show, join in on a project or pop in for a coffee there is something for everyone at the Rep.

8 - Think Tank Birmingham Science Museum

Let your imagination run wild at the interactive museum, one for the entire family no matter what age.

Digbeth

Digbeth is a developing, bohemian district known for street art, creative workshops at the Custard Factory and Eastside Projects and unique leisure activities.

9 - Graffiti Walk
This free art-tastic graffiti walk shows you some of the amazing graffiti art around Digbeth in Birmingham.

10 - Custard Factory
The Custard Factory is a creative hub home to many independent shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and even a cinema.

11 - Mini Golf and Cocktails at Golf Fang

Digbeth is known for its Quirky and trendy style, including vintage shops. Take a look at Cow to snap up a fashion find!

Moseley

A very popular cosmopolitan leisure destination, with a number of bars and restaurants, boutiques and other independent quirky retailers!

21 - Clean Kilo

The Clean Kilo is the largest zero-waste supermarket in the UK with one aim - To sell plastic-free products, source as local as possible and reduce food waste. You can take your own containers, or purchase reusable ones from them.

22 - Moseley Baths
Moseley Baths is a grandiose gothic renaissance pool building with many original features, which also opens for public swims. Swimsuits at the ready!

23 - Moseley Park and Pool
Unaltered for over a hundred years, Moseley park and pool has eleven acres of peaceful parkland, a beautiful lake packed with fish and waterfowl and surrounded by trees.

24 - Moseley Farmers Market

A huge range of produce to cater for everyone’s needs; whether it be fruit and vegetables, cheeses and wine, pies, beer or samosas. Everything available is guaranteed to be local and the produce is reared, grown or processed by the people selling. Find Moseley Farmers market the last Saturday of every month.

25 - Golden Putter Mini Golf

Amongst the green scenes of Cannon Hill Park sits Golden Putter Mini Golf course. Embark on some outdoor competition to reach the leaderboards.

26 - Creation

The midlands biggest indoor climbing and caving centre, Creation has over 100 lines of top rope and lead climbing on 300 different routes.

Make the most of Moseleys buzzing food and drink scene, don’t worry the 50 is the perfect designated driver.

27 - Damascena Coffee House - Delicatessen
Fantastic Middle Eastern restaurant in the heart of Moseley, serving fresh, delicious food inspired by a number of cuisines. The restaurant has become so popular there are now four Damascena Coffee Houses across Birmingham!

28 - The Cuban Embassy (The Bulls Head)

A bustling Cuban influenced bar with live music and cocktails.

29 - La Plancha

Known as one of the best tapas restaurants in Birmingham, La Plancha is well known for its homemade delicious menu and rustic setting.

30 - Zindiya 

Immerse yourself in the tastiest Indian street food at Moseley’s answer to a Delhi market.

Kings Heath

Some people may call Kingsheath Birmingham's very own mini-version of a trendy London borough. There are a lot of places to eat and shop, including independently owned cafes, restaurants and bars.

A well-known Brummie place! The Hare and Hounds holds gigs and live entertainment in two venues with art nouveau tiles. This place is also where the band UB40 first played!

Treat the kids to a trip to Hickory Dickory’s playhouse with soft play, trampolines, slides, ball pits and more!

An independent bar and bottle shop offering a rotating selection of only the best real ales, craft beers, wines, whiskeys and more.

Kings Heath - a foodie’s paradise!

Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, a catch-up over cocktails, tucking into a takeaway at home, or wining and dining with someone special, you really are spoilt for choice.

40 - The Early Bird Bakery
The pastries, cakes and savouries are baked daily in-house by the Early Bird Bakery pastry chefs using the finest and where possible, locally sourced ingredients.

41 - Maison Mayci
Maison Mayci is a french bakery with the most amazing cakes to take away or eat in!

Maypole

A district farm situated within Maypole. Perfect for a picnic, or stroll around!

Head to one of Maypole’s favourite takeaways, Balti Hut for some delicious Indian cuisine. Spice things up with their signature dish, the Chicken Braveheart, made with Naga chillies so it's definitely not for the faint-hearted...

 

Druids Heath

48 - Walkers Heath Park
Covering 51 acres, Walkers Heath Park has a range of wildlife from woodpeckers, foxes, bats and swallow hawks. For sports and leisure, the park has courts for basketball, netball and tennis, as well as two sets of football goals.

49 - Druids Heath Library
If you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet, Druids Heath Library is a perfect place to visit.

50 - Druids Heath Terminus
The end of one of the greatest bus routes and a perfect place to spot some buses!
