Buses will run up to every 10 minutes
Buses will run up to every 30 minutes
The good bits:
+ Buses will run more often, up to every 10 minutes between Gospel Oak and Birmingham, and up to every 5 minutes between Acocks Green and Birmingham
+ A new, faster and more direct route to Birmingham from Gospel Oak
+ All buses will serve Warwick Road in Acocks Green, passing Aldi and Sainsbury’s
The bad bits:
- The link to Shirley and Solihull via the 31 route will run less often
- Dolphin Lane, Olton Boulevard East, Shirley Road and Shaftmoor Lane will not have a direct link to Birmingham. But, the new 1 / 1A will run up to every 10 minutes and offer connections at Acocks Green (for the new 4 / 4A), or Stratford Road (for the 6)
The 4A replaces the 31 between Gospel Oak and Birmingham and will run up to every 10 minutes. The new 4A will run from Gospel Oak along Severne Road and Gospel Lane to Warwick Road, then through Acocks Green and direct along Warwick Road to Birmingham city centre, reducing journey times to / from Birmingham.
Between Acocks Green and the city centre, the 4 / 4A services will run together up to every 5 minutes along the Warwick Road.
Even though the 31 will no longer travel into Birmingham city centre, it will still cater for the link between Solihull, Shirley, Gospel Oak and Acocks Green.
The 31 will continue to serve its usual route from Solihull Station via Shirley to Streetsbrook Road, but it will then run along Redstone Farm Road due to ongoing issues with parking and resulting traffic on Pitmaston Road to Gospel Oak. Between Gospel Oak and Acocks Green buses will run along the current route including Severne Road and Olton Boulevard East to Acocks Green.
Pitmaston road will be served by the 99, provided by igo. Full details of this service will be available from networkwm.com shortly.
