With so much going on this Summer we asked Midlands Art Centre to give us a run down on all the amazing activities they're running over the next couple of months!

With activities for the whole family to enjoy, read below and see what’s waiting for you! 

Why not kick start your holidays with a creative course at MAC? Led by experienced Artist Tutors, MAC’s creative courses give children, young people and adults the chance to spend time learning a new hobby, meet new people and discover the amazing satisfaction of creating your own masterpieces.

Join us on Tuesday 1st August and become an astronaut of art… Make your own space rocket from a plastic drinks bottle and launch it into space with our day course Bottle Rockets! Or learn how to make hand-built pottery with a summer holiday theme, in the two-day course Summer Holiday Pottery Camp - starting from Wednesday 2nd - Thursday 3rd August.  

If you’ve ever wanted to be a DJ – look no further! MAC Presents: DJ School - from Tuesday 8th - Wednesday 9th August. Children can learn all about basic DJ equipment, mixing techniques, syncing and beat matching and how to seamlessly mix from one tune to another.

For other digital tech lovers, join us for Create a Digital Meditation Animation. On Thursday 17th August, young people can learn how to create a moving meditative digital animation. Keep busy this summer with Busy Bee Sewing - learn the basics of sewing on Tuesday 22nd August by creating your own cuddly toy bee, ladybug or smiling daisy from scratch.

For theatre lovers, MAC presents Splash Test Dummies, from Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th July. The Dummies are off on an exciting adventure of oceanic proportions! With a brilliant array of catch-your-breath stunt work, dazzling acrobatics, dexterous juggling and side-splitting, slapstick comedy, the Dummies are ready to roll out their beach towels and spring into an exciting hour of circus-filled hilarity for the whole family. 

We all want to meet people from history. The trouble is everyone is dead! Join us for hit West End Show Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain on Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th August in MAC’s marvellous Outdoor Theatre. Will you be conquered by William? Will you sink or swim with King Henry I? Go house hunting with Henry VIII, join the gorgeous Georgians as they take over England, maybe break into Buckingham Palace and hide from the Queen Victoria… 

Family favourite Colour Box returns to MAC on Saturday 5th August for a drop-in creative workshop before a screening of Babe; a very famous, heroic pig who causes mischief on an Australian farm, but ultimately saves the day as a “sheep-pig”.
