Summer holiday fun in the West Midlands

As the summer holidays officially kick off, we have put together a list of a whole host of activities going on around the West Midlands. You can plan your Summer holiday schedule perfectly, without having to spend a fortune every day to keep the kids happy.

Touchwood Solihull, Solihull Beach, 19th July – 31st August 2025

Touchwood’s much-loved urban beach returns this summer with a Jurassic twist, offering free family fun, live dino shows, and sandy adventures.

Moseley Folk & Arts Festival, 29th – 31st August 2025

Moseley Folk & Arts Festival is a three-day celebration of folk and acoustic music set in a picturesque woodland glade. Expect a mix of big names and rising stars, plus crafts, comedy, street food, and family-friendly fun—all in an intimate lakeside setting in the heart of Birmingham.

Birmingham weekender, 23rd – 25th August 2025

Birmingham Weekender is back this August with a free city-wide festival of live performances, pop-up events, and stunning installations. Expect spectacular entertainment for all ages, from local and international talent, across Birmingham’s streets, squares, and shopping centres.

Supersonic Festival, locations across Digbeth, 29th – 31st August 2025

Supersonic Festival is Birmingham’s annual celebration of experimental music and art, packed with cutting-edge performances, workshops, and installations across Digbeth. Geared towards ages 15+, it also includes a family-friendly Kids Gig—making it a bold, creative experience for curious minds of all ages.

Weekly events

Birmingham new bulls in the city art trail

Bulls in the City is a public art trail running from 16th July to 14th September 2025, with 40 giant, artist-designed bull sculptures and 85 smaller calves to discover across Birmingham all raising funds for Birmingham Hospice. And guess what? We have our very own bull in the herd, see if you can find it!

Resorts World – Nature Burrow petting zoo, every Monday

Get ready for furry fun every Monday at Resorts World Birmingham’s Petting Zoo in the Atrium! From 10 am to 11:30 am, kids can meet and handle a rotating cast of animals—everything from fluffy mammals to scaly reptiles and birds of prey—for delightful, up-close encounters that change weekly.

Resorts World – Free Dinosaur Fridays, every Friday

Dino-themed fun is back at Resorts World Birmingham this summer, with free activities every Friday including a towering T‑Rex meet‑and‑greet, interactive games, and photo ops—perfect for kids to enjoy a Jurassic adventure.

Black Country Living Museum Summer Lates, Every Friday night in August

Every Friday night in August, Black Country Living Museum are extending their opening hours so you can kick off your weekend with some bostin’ Black Country food, retro drinks, fairground rides and live music.

Dudley Zoo and Castle, summer adventures

Dudley Zoo and Castle is packed with summer fun for the whole family! Enjoy themed activities, animal encounters, open-air cinema nights, and exclusive castle tours – all set within 40 acres of historic grounds and amazing wildlife.

From Navvies to Skippers, Dudley Canal & Tunnel Trust

Looking for something a bit different to keep the kids busy? Head to Dudley Canal & Tunnel Trust and hop aboard an underground boat trip! Explore hidden tunnels, hear stories of canal workers and miners, and discover how today’s skippers and ecologists help keep our waterways thriving.

Arts Club: Summer Fun at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Arts Club: Summer Fun at the Museum invites kids to join creative workshops every Wednesday during the summer holidays at Birmingham Museum, featuring fun activities like mosaic making, stained glass, tile art, origami, and jewellery making. Adults can accompany children for free.

Thinktank, Birmingham

Thinktank’s summer fun includes Stellar Space Day with sci-fi shows and space crafts, Stargazers Storytime for little ones, Rocket Lab’s paper rocket launches, Moonbase Construction Zone’s giant block building, Sunday Kitchen Science experiments, and Big Build Saturdays for creative family play.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

This summer, Birmingham Botanical Gardens is buzzing with family fun, creativity and relaxation.

Let kids run wild with free activities like Gardens Games on the West Lawn, messy play in the Mud Kitchen, and fun Children’s Trails to explore the gardens. Get crafty at Family Wednesdays: Family Art Club, enjoy outdoor performances at Gardens Theatre: The Wind in the Willows, and unwind with Gardens Yoga – including peaceful Saturday Mornings and soothing Sound Baths.

Catch a film at Gardens Cinema, enjoy live music at Live on the Bandstand, and don’t miss the highlight of the season – Cirque du Pollinate: A Family Summer Garden Party! A playful, interactive adventure celebrating the magic of bees, nature and imagination.

There’s loads to discover at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum this summer!
