Moseley Park and Pool is the place to be this summer, starting off with Mostly Jazz and Folk Festival. The beautiful woodland and sloping grounds create a natural amphitheatre and in front of the beautiful lake, it’s the perfect setting for a festival.
Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival kicks off our summer running from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th July 2023. And then towards the end of the school holidays Moseley Folk and Arts Festival is in town from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd September 2023. We’ve pulled together a ‘What’s on’ guide for the two events to help you plan your weekends. Don’t forget that Moseley Park and Pool is just a short walk from our iconic 50 bus route too, so whether you are travelling from Druids Heath, Kings Heath or coming in from the City Centre we can help you plan a great day out.

The first day of the festival welcomes New Zealand's Fat Freddy's Drop to the main stage. The Kiwi seven-piece embrace sunshine reggae, psychedelic soul, and R&B.
Local lad Goldie, was raised in Wolverhampton, first making his name as a graffiti artist, but quickly emerging as a musical force. The Timeless and Saturnz Return albums both had a huge influence on British and international culture during the 1990s.
With over 700,000 records sold worldwide, and over three million monthly listeners on Spotify, Jungle have been at the forefront of the UK music scene since their Mercury Prize nominated and certified gold self-titled debut album in 2014. For Mostly, the duo will be presenting Jungle DJ Set.
An exclusive afterparty will take place at the nearby Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath with Goldie, fresh from his main stage ‘band’ appearance, DJing alongside Leftfoot DJs.

Saturday’s headliners, Ezra Collective are one of the UK's most exciting jazz acts. Their latest album, Where I'm Meant To Be, marries jazz, Afrobeat, hip-hop and dancehall sounds.
Fred Wesley and The New JBs return to the main stage on Saturday after previously performing at the festival in 2012. US trombonist Wesley is one of the founding fathers of funk. Serving as arranger and musical director/band leader for James Brown during the 1960s-1970s, he recorded such seminal tracks as Say It Loud (I'm Black And I'm Proud). He then went on to lead Fred Wesley and The JBs (recording Pass The Peas) and play with such acts as George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic, the Count Basie Orchestra, Bootsy Collins, Bobby Womack, Young Disciples, Earth Wind and Fire, and many others.
Saturday’s afterparty will see rising local hero Sam Redmore taking to the decks with Leftfoot DJs also appearing. Tickets, which are limited for these events, are also on sale now.

The Sunday night headliners, KC and The Sunshine Band are famed for dancefloor classics like Get Down Tonight, That's The Way (I Like It), (Shake Shake Shake) Your Booty, and the 1983 number one, Give It Up. Their music has featured in hundreds of movies too, from Saturday Night Fever and Forrest Gump, to 2022's Minions: The Rise Of Gru. Crowds can also expect an inspired selection of crowd-pleasing funk and soul bangers from Craig Charles appears on Mostly’s main stage! The actor, writer, broadcaster and DJ joins Sunday's bill, where the BBC 6Music icon
Incognito are a defining voice in British music. Following the Top 30 success of their 1981 album Jazz Funk, they hit their stride the following decade with such hits as Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing, Always There (featuring Jocelyn Brown), and Everyday then went on to work with A-listers as Stevie Wonder, Paul Weller and Chaka Khan.
Alongside the music bill, the festival is also hosting a series of workshops, performances and activities with Birmingham Royal Ballet, street culture specialists High Vis Festival, and Dead Pixels (with their retro gaming caravan), plus Sofunk Dance Fitness, Drum N Bounce, The Swing Era, and dance tutor/dancer Ed Quigley. Award-winning street food vendors and Brummie favourites will be there too including Bonehead; Original Patty Men; East Asian specialists Brum M ́ ì; The English Indian, famed for their award-winning Indian take on fish'n'chips; Ba-Ha Vegan; and Gyoza Gyoza (Japanese). Plus Cleopatra's Kitchen, Good Food Cartel (Mexican), That's Amore (pizzas), Zindiya (Indian), West Midlands Jerk Centre, Carnival Coffee, Bournville Waffle Company, and Shepherds Ices.
