The King's Coronation Weekend

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort takes place on Saturday 6th May, the three day celebrations end on Monday 8th May, marked with a bank holiday. Across the Coronation weekend there are plenty of opportunities for people to come together across the West Midlands to celebrate this historic occasion. Plan your journey with National Express Bus to make the most of the weekend fun.

We have put together a list of everything going on for the King's Coronation weekend around the West Midlands that you can get to by bus, something for all the family to enjoy and celebrate this historic moment.

The Coronation weekend is outlined below.

Saturday 6th May, The Coronation ceremony takes place at Westminster Abbey.

Sunday 7th May, The Coronation Big Lunch and a special Coronation concert a day where communities, friends, families and neighbours are encouraged to come together to share food and fun.

Monday 8th May, The Big Help Out which is set out to encourage people to try volunteering in their community to support their local areas.

King's Coronation in Centenary Square

A party fit for a King in Centenary Square for 2 days of FREE family fun. Starting on Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th May there will be a giant screen to watch the ceremony and an outdoor stage with live entertainment. 

There will also be a funfair with rides for all the family to enjoy, as well as food outlets, street entertainment and picnic areas, where visitors can soak up the regal party atmosphere.

Kings Coronation in Solihull Town centre

Celebrate in royal style in Solihull, with fun celebrations and activities taking place from the 29th April.

On Saturday 6th May enjoy free access to the vintage bus tour from Solihull train station to the town centre as well as access to board the vintage bus in Mell Square to discover all the fascinating history of bus carriage makers of Solihull, all courtesy of Transport Museum Wythall.

Other activities to celebrate include, the family sticker trail which could lead to winning a £300 Touchwood gift card! Watch the live screening of the Coronation at the Core theatre where there are plenty of kids activities. Discover Touchwood's royal umbrella walkway that leads to a perfect photo opportunity to remember this moment in history.

The Kings Coronation with Dudley Library

Dudley library are putting on some royally spectacular celebrations to mark the coronation of King Charles, with festivities starting on the 22nd April.

Make a Coronation concertinas and paper chains on Saturday 22nd April, 2pm-3pm 

Make a Coronation carriage and finger puppets on Saturday 29th April, 2pm-3pm

Coronation day crafts on Saturday 6th May, 2pm-3pm

Royal tea party and Coronation live stream on Saturday 6th May from 10am.

Coronation celebrations Wall Heath and Kingswinford

Kingswinford from 11am, live music, games, food, face paintings, may pole and plenty more to enjoy.

Wall Heath from 12pm, live music, dancing, games, cocktail bar, food stalls, face painting and lots more.

Parade from 1pm, Kingswinford British Legion to Wall Heath ending at DK Rugby club.

Black Country Living Museum King's Coronation

Head to Black Country Living Museum for some royal cheer as we welcome a new King and celebrate previous monarchs and their reign.

Make sure to dress for the occasion, dig out your favourite fancy dress or even your finest royal dress or simply dress in the patriotic colours of red, white and blue and step into the museums village street party.

Celebrate the King's Coronation in Sandwell

Celebrate in Harborne

Hop Garden Pub

Saturday 6th May, from 1pm, Hop Garden will have the Coronation on television in their idyllic beer garden and from 4pm they'll be joined by a six-piece band!

Sunday 7th May, from 7pm, join Hop Garden for the Kings Coronation Concert.

Plough Harborne

Sunday 7th May, from 7pm, join The Plough for fun, games and the chance to win a lovely coronation hamper. Even a bird brains quiz to test your knowledge.

Harborne Village Social Club

The big Coronation celebration at Harborne Village Social Club watch the coronation and enjoy great food and great entertainment, including Bingo and Greyhound Races! Then, from 8pm 'til late, the club are throwing are Disco that's just £3 to enter for non-members.
