Top photogenic places to visit by bus

Ever wondered where all the photographers go to take their pictures? Let Birminghman show you some of the best spots in the city!

Colmore Row

In the heart of Birmingham’s business district lies some hidden photogenic spots. If you have a wide angle lens there are plenty of look-up shots available (or if your phone camera has a 0.5 zoom feature use that!). It’s also an active scene filled with National Express West Midlands buses… a street photographer’s dream.

Digbeth

One of the best skyline views of Birmingham is available from the east side of the city, Digbeth. Some of my best pictures and content have come from this side because you instantly look at the picture and recognise the Brummy landmarks… not a bad spot for some food, arts and entertainment either!

Edgbaston Reservoir

Nature with a skyline backdrop, what can go wrong? On a clear summer’s day you can grab a great reflection shot or make use of subjects in the pond such as swans to help with the composition of the image. The parks can also offer some peace and quiet.

University of Birmingham

The university is one of the most photogenic in the UK for me - the red bricks and record-tall clocktower make for some awesome views. The canals nearby are also a treat to walk along.

Why don’t you take your phone or camera and check out the spots I’ve mentioned? Don’t be afraid to get creative and give your own twist to the images.

Head to the plan your journey page to see what bus service would be best to take for you. The route planner is very user friendly and simple to use.

I downloaded the mTicket app and with my £4 Day Saver safely saved on my phone, I visited all of the above in one day. The Day Saver gives you unlimited trips so you could sneak in more locations if you want! With sunnier days ahead - it’s time to start planning a day trip.
