Buses for Bloxwich

Changes to our hi-spec Platinum X51 service

Published: 7th April 2021

Good news! We have brought a lifeline bus service to a cut-off estate in Bloxwich

Since Sunday 21 March 2021,  our X51 service with hi-spec Platinum buses has been going from Birmingham to Cannock via Broad Lane and the Turnberry estate. The service also now goes to the Orbital Retail Park.

In addition, the X51 now runs on a Sunday, and buses run later to Cannock on weekdays and Saturdays.

And from 12th April 2021 it will call at the new McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Cannock.

Walsall councillor for Rushall-Shelfield, Richard Worrall, has campaigned for bus services in the Turnberry estate since a different bus company stopped running the number 2 route along there.

“It’s great to see that Turnberry Estate and Broad Lane have now got a quality service to Cannock, Walsall and Birmingham every 30 minutes. It’s an exciting opportunity for the many local people on the revised route.”

Chris Gibbens,  our Commercial Director, said:

“We’re delighted to be providing this new improved X51 - including a Sunday service for the first time. Despite lockdown restrictions, we are already seeing that customers appreciate it for essential travel - we’ve carried 25% more passengers on the first two Sundays compared to on the previous route.”

“The Platinum buses we run on the X51 are National Express’ highest quality buses, with free wifi, extra legroom, next-stop announcements and the option to pay using contactless.

“They are also all certified low-carbon buses with the cleanest diesel engines available. Don’t forget, the quickest, easiest and cheapest thing you can do to clean up the air we breathe and do your bit to tackle climate change is to hop on the bus.”
