Questions our customers are asking us

Why are you offering free bus travel?
The Free Evening Christmas Travel offer is designed to help attract new customers to the bus, and has been timed to tie in with late-night Christmas shopping and festive activities in the region. The offer is part-funded through the Bus Service Improvement Plan and is being run in partnership with Transport for West Midlands (TfWM).

Do I need a ticket?
No, there will be no need to show a pass or buy a ticket, simply board the bus for free after 7pm. Our bus drivers will be recording people boarding the bus so that we can count how many customers we carry.

Will buses be busy?
We do expect buses to be busier than normal during the free travel period. There will be increased support and provisions in place during the period, to reflect the additional passenger demand.

Are other local operators taking part in this?
Yes, other local operators are taking part in this offer. You will need to speak to them directly about where this offer will apply on their services if travelling beyond the nBus boundary.

Can I travel on all National Express buses?
Yes, you can travel on any of our buses across our network. This offer does not include National Express coaches.

What if I tap my contactless card/device by accident?
No payments will be taken by our card readers after 7pm. If you tap your card, the card reader will beep but no payment will be taken.

Will I get a refund on a pass or ticket I already have?
No, customers will not be given refunds. The free travel offer is a temporary initiative designed to encourage non-bus users to try bus travel for the first time, or to return to bus travel after not using buses for a while.

Will there be extra buses?
Our teams have checked for capacity over our network and bottlenecks will be mitigated.
